Volunteer Recruitment 2023
Looking to get involved with Habitat MidOhio in the new year? No matter your interests, we’ve got a place for you! Here are our greatest volunteer needs heading into 2023:
Construction started for our 16th Women Build house in January 2023, and we’d love to have more women join the crew! The intention of the Women Build program is to engage more women in the construction process and empower them to feel comfortable learning new skills on site. Individual volunteers or groups of up to 10 are needed on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:30am-4:00pm throughout the build. Shifts for individuals are posted on the general volunteer calendar and groups can submit an interest form here to schedule a date.
Winter Building on New Builds and Repairs
The need for affordable housing doesn’t stop in the winter months, so neither do we! Our construction calendar is already looking very busy for early 2023, so we’d love to have you, your workplace, place of worship, or group of friends and family bundle up and join us on site! Shifts for individuals are posted on the general volunteer calendar and groups can submit an interest form here to schedule a date.
Playhouse Kit Creation
For those with some general construction knowledge and comfort with power tools, we also have a new opportunity: playhouse kit creation. Volunteers will help cut, prepare, and partially assemble playhouse kits to be ready for the Playhouse Blitz this spring! Shifts will be held inside at the Habitat warehouse. Sign up here!
Homeowner Selection Committee
The Homeowner Selection Committee is seeking new members! The Homeowner Selection Committee is a group of volunteers who conduct home visits with potential Habitat partner families, help introduce them to Habitat's programs, and recommend applicants for approval to Habitat's Board of Directors. The next round of Habitat homeownership applications open in March 2023, so we'd like to have new committee members in place at that time. Apply here.
We will be opening a new ReStore in Newark in the new year, and volunteers are needed to help make the final preparations before the grand opening! Once open, we’d also love to get some recurring volunteers on the calendar. Individual volunteers and groups are welcome between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Shifts for individuals are posted on the general volunteer calendar and groups can submit an interest form here to schedule a date.
