The Playhouse Project Blitz Build is Underway at Huntington Park as Habitat MidOhio and its Partners Set out to Build 11 Playhouses In 3 Days for 11 Families in Need
COLUMBUS, Ohio — September 9-11, 2020; With the blessing of the health department and the dedication of 11 partners, Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio is going ahead with its first “Playhouse Project Blitz Build” at Huntington Park in downtown Columbus. The blitz will be held from Wednesday, September 9 thru Friday, September 11, 2020. Families will arrive at the park at 5pm each of the three days for the “Playhouse Reveal.” For most children involved, this will be the first they learn about their new playhouse.
“Playhouses provide a fun, imaginary world where kids can create make-believe stories that foster their development, leadership, and creativity.” notes Habitat MidOhio Pres. & CEO E.J. Thomas. “’Playing House’ is often the first time a child starts to think about what a home might mean to them. The Playhouse Project and the Blitz Build effort is a wonderful way for community organizations and local business to have a “real” impact on the lives of families right here in central Ohio.”
For over thirty years, Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio has helped build the dream of homeownership and home stability, serving more than 700 central Ohio families through new home construction, rehabs, and home repair. In 2020, Habitat MidOhio launched The Playhouse Project — a unique initiative that allows Habitat to partner with sponsors to build a playhouse for a local family in need — providing children with a safe place to play.
Funds raised through The Playhouse Project support Habitat MidOhio’s mission of inspiring hope, building homes, empowering families, and developing communities.
