Thrivent Financial prepares to dedicate its 20th home in central Ohio.
COLUMBUS, Ohio 1/3/17 – Thrivent Financial and its Thrivent builds program will celebrated a milestone in December when it dedicated its 20th home build with Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio. Since 2007, the faith-based financial services organization has committed more than $1.5 million in mission support. These dollars have gone a long way in central Ohio, providing safe, decent, and affordable housing to 20 families, including 65 children.
“We have been so blessed and grateful to partner with Thrivent Financial and Thrivent Builds over the last decade,” said E.J. Thomas, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio. “Habitat relies on support from the community to help make affordable housing possible and we appreciate the generosity of Thrivent and its volunteers. We look forward to many more milestones like this in the future.”
For Habitat MidOhio partner Kelly Carroll, an office administrator at a law firm and full-time student, her new home is a culmination of lifetime of dreams. Kelly and her three children, Tanner (16), Sydney (8), and Triston (6), are currently living in transitional housing and are ready to leave that chapter of their life behind.
Kelly said owning a home “was always something she wanted, but it was just never something that I thought would be a possibility for me”. The children are also looking forward to having their own rooms and are hoping that their mom will allow them to get a family pet when their Habitat home is finished.
When asked about the impact a Habitat home would have on their family, Kelly said, “This is a place that is safe and secure. It will allow us to begin to strengthen our lives and our family bond.”
