Habitat for Humanity recognized for excellence in safety

ATLANTA (Feb. 16, 2017)—The National Association of Home Builders awarded Habitat for Humanity with the Judges Special Recognition Award during the annual SAFE awards reception at the 2017 International Builders Show in Orlando.

The National Association of Home Builders awarded Habitat for Humanity with the 2017 Judges Special Recognition Award. This is the second year in a row Habitat has received a SAFE award for excellence in safety. This is the second year in a row Habitat has received a SAFE award for developing and implementing high-quality construction safety programs across nearly 1,400 communities in the U.S.

“Our safety program enables us to maintain high safety standards on Habitat build sites across the country,” said Sue Henderson, vice president, Operations, U.S. and Canada, Habitat for Humanity International. “We share this achievement with our network of staff members, volunteers and homeowners who work toward Habitat’s mission to ensure everyone has a decent place to call home.”

The NAHB/Builders Mutual Insurance Company Safety Award for Excellence recognizes member companies, workers and other individuals for the excellent safety programs that make them leaders in the residential construction industry.

Safety should be in forefront of every project, from budget through completion, and we wish to recognize those individuals and companies that have demonstrated a commitment to safety above and beyond the industry standard.”
